In more recent years people have observed the different aspects of this traditional play activity and can see it as a great form of development and education for young children. We have found sand play to have a huge impact on a child’s interaction, coordination, and artistic creation. Sand itself is a fascinating material for a child, it can be made hard or it can be left soft, It can flow or it can be solid, sand itself offers endless possibilities for a child’s imagination.

Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5189220758768300295.post-64484897599989734952019-11-01T20:05:20.981+10:002019-11-01T20:05:20.981+10:00Our Trend Micro Geek Squad Agents provide repair,...Our Trend Micro Geek Squad Agents provide repair, installation and setup services on all kinds of tech at more than 1,100 Best Buy stores – including computer & tablet repair, setup and support, TV & home theater repair, car stereo & GPS installation, cell phone repair and home appliance repair. GET THOSE CHILDREN OUTSIDE. ...Hi Anon, and welcome. GET THOSE CHILDREN OUTSIDE. They need sensory, hands-on play. They don't need to be constantly told to STOP. Put posters out of reach. Put tarps under indoor tables to catch spillages, or take the tables outside on verandahs. Provide lots of opportunities for physical exercise and risky play. Find out what they're interested in (I have had a whole room full of toddlers sitting on the floor with me making nappies for the dolls out of paper towels and sticky tape, because they were interested in toilet training). Sing action songs with them. Dance.

They are at an age where they learn like scientists. What happens if I tear this? It breaks apart. Do tissue paper collage where they can tear and stick. Take precious books into the storeroom and put the trashed ones out for them to touch.

What happens if I push this off the table? It falls. Lesson one in gravity. Prepare for them to do that and don't invest so much time and heart in your set-ups looking pretty- that's not what it's about- just make them engaging for the group to interact with.

Put displays out of reach- along the outside walls of your rooms for parents to see, or hanging from lines from the ceiling. You are expecting behaviour which is beyond these children's maturity level. Try to say YES as much as you can and limit NO to the vital stuff like biting, fighting etc.

Re language- they understand a lot more than they can say. To stop undesirable behaviour, physically stop them by taking both hands in yours firmly and say "I won't let you do that." Then give a simple reason- "because you are hurting me", or whatever. And then acknowledge the feeling and give an alternative coping method- "I see you feel angry, When you are angry you can hit a pillow like this, but I won't let you hit me." Offer physical comfort- "When you are ready to stop being angry I would love to give you a cuddle."

If you start from having a positive relationship with the individual child and treat them with respect when setting limits, plus make those limits firm and simple and give safe places to play without too many NOs, you will progress in leaps and bounds. Programming really isn't that hard if you're paying attention- the kids will lead you.

As for red herrings- I learnt their worth when I was teaching music to teenagers. I followed every diversion they put out there, and yet we were NEVER behind in covering the syllabus. Everything is relevant if you know how to use it, and things are learned so much faster at that magic point of interest.Aunt Anniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08799746597313773030noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5189220758768300295.post-30500488236773576412011-06-21T03:25:22.719+10:002011-06-21T03:25:22.719+10:00Following the kids' lead is so important. Isn't it amazing how one child talking about the word he learned to spell grew into an entire room full of space exploration?

And you are so right about those red herrings.
